What people are saying

It’s always encouraging to hear that people have been encouraged by what they have heard.

A little about Stephen

Stephen has a background in journalism and writing, and has worked for much of the past three decades planting and pastoring churches.

His concern for the church and its health springs from his desire to see individual Christians become confident and secure in their faith, even while the secular setting they live in becomes more complex.

As a man with a family which also has to navigate the changing world, he is well placed to get alongside others and help them navigate it too. His interest in the arts and literature, and how it addresses our philosophical and cultural anxieties, means that he understands the pressures we all face seeking to live and lead as faithful followers of Jesus. He loves seeing other Christians step out confidently into the secular vocations that God has placed them in.

Books written by Stephen

How did we get here? Where are we going? Those questions are answered in Stephen’s accessible takes on our cultural moment.

Futureproof
Explores the increasingly secular direction that our western culture is heading and shows how the gospel equips Christians and churches to face the future with confidence.
Being the Bad Guys
How we came to live in a post-Christian culture and how to live for Jesus in it.

There is no guarantee that Jesus will return in our desired timeframe. Yet we have no reason to be anxious, because even if the timeframe is not guaranteed, the outcome is! We don’t have to waste energy being anxious; we can put it to better use.
