Excitement in Church Planting #1

Well that was enough church planting disappointment for one blog-week, now for some excitement.  Soon and very soon (er, tomorrow – Ed) we have the first gathering of Providence Church’s Midland plant.  As we say in theological parlance – “Woohoo!”. I thought I would provide you with some details of what to expect.

Meeting Venue Description (warning: Real Estate Speak follows – Ed):

A cosy heritage building with all of the period features that you would come to expect in a “between the wars” property (the McAlpine’s 1929 clapboard and iron cottage – Ed). With three large (small – Ed) meeting rooms (lounge room, kitchen, Sophie’s bedroom – Ed) the building affords plenty of room (no room at all – Ed) to grow. Complete with cold and hot (lukewarm – Ed) running (dripping – Ed) water, it is proof that they don’t make buildings like this anymore (The most up-to-date building codes ensure higher levels of safety, non-toxicity of product and over-engineering of roof timbers – Ed). All in all we can’t think of a better place to start the Providence Midland gathering (the local primary school said “no” – Ed).

Personnel Description by SIGHT:

A rag-tag group of families, young marries, children, new Christians, tired Christians and some people interested in Jesus.  Often weary, always on the go, and working longish hours with a freeway crawl from and to home.

Personnel Description by FAITH:

A chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that they may proclaim the excellencies of him who called them out of darkness into his marvelous light. ¹⁰  Once they were not a people, but now they are God’s people; once they had not received mercy, but now they have received mercy.

And that, folks, is why I am so excited about it.
