When Should Christians Abandon the Ark of ARC?

Theologically orthodox Christians who attended the 2025 Alliance for Responsible Citizenship conference in London recently, have to ask themselves how long before normal services resume.

What do I mean by that? Simply this:

How long before the political and cultural flood waters recede, and we determine that some of those with whom we are allying for the sake of political survival are not those with whom we can have lasting table fellowship?

It’s clear that ARC 2025 went off with a bang. And rightly so. ARC was birthed in an overwhelming flood of hard progressive politics in the West, a flood that was threatening to overwhelm us.

It’s a bit like the picture above. When floods swept through northern Australia in 2018, enemies banded together against a common – and more destructive foe.

Hence the strange sight of a mouse and a frog sitting on the back of snake, and a bug sitting atop the frog, all with apparently little danger of anyone being eaten by anyone else….

You can read more about this on my new pay-per-subscription Substack. I’m putting out a long-form essay on culture/theology/church each week.  I believe it’s an important work and I want to be able to respond to critical issues with more lead time.  Would you partner with me in this? The cost of a cup of coffee per month.

Check it out here..

There is no guarantee that Jesus will return in our desired timeframe. Yet we have no reason to be anxious, because even if the timeframe is not guaranteed, the outcome is! We don’t have to waste energy being anxious; we can put it to better use.
